Event Coverage ~ Erik Herrera Memorial Fundraiser ~ South Gate

Kokopelli Ink lost one of its own last week when Erik Herrera lost his life in an act of violence. Erik was a very talented artist and left behind a wife and two small children. The Kokopelli Ink & Smoke Shop family decided to come together and raise funds for Erik’s loved ones. Today in South Gate California a car wash was held and the tattoo studio was open for business with all proceeds going to Erik’s family.

While the car wash was going on in the back of the building, Erik’s family and friends were collecting donations from motorists in the front of the stores. It was such a great feeling to see people dropping everything from change to $100 bills in the collection containers.

Mister Cartoon’s SANCTIOND Automotive Car Care Products was kind enough to donate product to the fundraiser.

Our nephew Steven donated to the cause by getting a new tattoo in honor his grandfather and my dad Joseph Bueno.

As I mentioned previously it was nice to see the generosity of the community at large as well as everyone involved in the fundraising.  Although Erik cannot be replaced with monetary donations the gesture will forever be implanted in family.  If you would like to help Erik’s family a donation account has been set up. Here is the link to the donation page.
