Profile ~ Fernando “Big Fern” Ramirez
The 1958 Chevy Impala shown below should be very familiar to music video viewers and Lowrider fans. It has been featured in numerous music videos since its completion, including videos by Cypress Hill, Snoop Dogg, Brandy and most recently the Cheetah Girls. It has also been profiled in Rides magazine and was a cover car for Lowrider magazine. This car represents the epitome of a Lowriders and can be seen cruising the streets of Los Angeles. Yes, that’s right it is driven and driven quite often! For a car that turns 50 years old in 2008, it looks much better that when it rolled off the assembly line back in 1958.
The owner and builder of the car is my good friend Fernando “Big Fern” Ramirez. He is the owner of Eagle Tow which not only does towing but also provides vehicles for movies, tv and music videos. Big Fern also builds lowriders for a select group of people and has been a part of some pretty big car builds. He is part of the Soul Assassins family and as you can see from the plaque a member of the legendary club Lifestyle. This is not the first car he’s built nor the last. Like any true car builder, there’s always a project in the driveway.
Big Fern is the man. That’s a good dude right there.
